Sophie Shekarchian, LMFT

Psychotherapist

Sophie cultivates a collaborative and creative space grounded in warmth, curiosity, direct feedback, and —when fitting—a sense of humor. These qualities form the cornerstone of her practice, helping clients feel supported as they explore meaningful change.

She works with individuals and couples to uncover the connections between past experiences and present challenges, fostering deeper self-understanding, clarity, and emotional connection. Sophie’s approach is grounded in attachment-based, trauma-informed, and depth psychology perspectives, and she integrates tools from psychodynamic therapy, CBT, EFT, and mindfulness to meet the unique needs of each client.

As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Sophie is passionate about working with LGBTQ+ individuals and issues of diversity and intersectionality, including race, class, and culture. She also provides support around reproductive technologies (IVF, IUI, donor conception, surrogacy), and the decision to live child-free.

Sophie holds a BA from UCLA and an MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University. She trained in psychodynamic therapy at The Maple Counseling Center, where she facilitated both individual and group sessions. Sophie is licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (LMFT #147164).
