Anais Plasketes, M.A.

Anais aims to break down stereotypical “blank slate” therapy by striking a balance between a direct and challenging therapeutic space with warmth, compassion, and empathy. She provides space for individuals, adolescents, couples, and families to explore their thoughts, feelings, and stories openly and honestly on a human to human level. She believes that every individual holds the power within to be the expert on their own experience and considers it a gift to witness each client’s unique story. Anais believes the healing power of the arts to be invaluable. With her professional background in the entertainment industry and fine arts world, Anais encourages and fosters creativity in the therapeutic space allowing for an “out of the box” therapeutic experience as well as an opportunity to connect more deeply to one’s authentic Self allowing for deeper, more meaningful relationships.

Anais obtained her Bachelors in Theatre Arts from Birmingham-Southern College and obtained her Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University Los Angeles.  Anais received one of a kind, extensive training in LGBTQ affirmative psychotherapy through the specialization program at Antioch University.  In conjunction with this training, she completed her Marriage and Family Therapist traineeship at Colors LGBTQ Youth Counseling Center where she worked with youth and adolescents ages 13-25 dealing with various issues that may arise through identity development including anxiety, depression, addiction, eating disorders, and self-harm. Anais is continuing to fuel her passion for empowering youth at the Los Angeles LGBT Center through her work with LifeWorks, a youth development center, where she facilitates group therapy and sees individual clients including both youth and adults.

Anais is a registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (MFTI-84097) supervised and employed by Justin Shubert, Psy.D. (PSY-23766).  As she is collecting hours towards licensure, she is able to offer services on a sliding scale fee as well as see clients on evenings and weekends.
